La Bottega di Volpaia: About us

I’m Carla, I cook, I organize and often stay in the hall to chat with my clients, because I always like to know what you think of my plates, and if I can improve I am always ready for the challenge! My passion for cooking was born casually for friendship and art … going over the old patents of the Selvolini family in Volpaia, for a certain period of time, lived an extraordinary man that organized some modern art shows of very high quality, bringing the greatest artists of the world in Chianti, that drew in hundreds and hundreds of art and not enthusiasts. Luciano Pistoi was my beginning. There was a big movement in the small town and a point of restoration was missing, Luciano, my great friend, asked me to prepare something simple, traditional, to offer to those who climbed up to volpaia and wanted to spend the day to better enjoy the pieces on show. The sevolini family gave my family patents 300 years old, that carry a history made of inn, horse post, lodging quarters and store for the town ... It even sold quinine for malaria that at that time raged the territory brought in by the tranfers of sheep from Maremma (transumanza).

THE RESTAURANT

As soon as you get to Volpaia you can see a the parking of the little town on the left, you can just lift your head and you see the terraces of the restaurant.

There are 80 seating places outside, looking over the beautiful view of the Chianti hills, and 40 inside, totally restored between 2006 and 2007, I wanted it simple as simple is my way of cooking, but for me it is my home and I hope it will be for you when you come to see me, because waiting for you with me will be always my mother Gina, father Oriano that looks from the porch of his home (over the restaurant), Pallina, my dog, and often Ombra, the dog of my sister ...in other words all the “wide” family to welcome you.

THE WINE CHARTER

I choose the wines with my sister Paola, that has a great experience in the field.

We favour the Chianti of the area particularly those made the old way, using the vines of the old Chianti tradition aged in the big oak barrels.

You will also find a selection of white and red wines that come from out of the Chianti, but blend well with our traditional plates.
